December 2013: Port Edwards has been awarded a Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation Idled Sites Grant for $1 Million. This grant will be used to replace the infastructure in Edwards Ave, assist in electrical service connections to the mill site, and develop a feasibility study for a cellulosic research facility
March 27, 2013: The Port Edwards mill site has been sold by Domtar to DMI Acquisitions, LLC. Press Release (PDF)
With the closure of the Domtar paper mill in Port Edwards, the Village Board and staff has worked tirelessly on a community redevelopment plan. With a focus on existing infrastructure, labor, and comparability, Port Edwards has positioned itself to facilitate a wide variety of commercial, residential, and industrial developments.
